The Instituto Intercultural del Caribe(IIC) is the Spanish section of theGerman-Dominican Language and Culture Institute EDASE, founded in 1994. We areone of the largest institutions offering Spanish classes to foreigners in theDominican Republic.
Our language students can choose between twolocations: One school is in the country's capital Santo Domingo, aCaribbean-style metropolis with more than 2.5 million inhabitants. The otherschool is on the north coast of the country in the small sea town of Sosua, famous for its incredible beaches and variety of water sports activities.
Herein our Spanish school in Santo Domingo is the best opportunity you will have to learn spanish, one of the widest spread languages in the world in one of thesafest countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Enjoy an inviting Hispanic "ambiente",and experience a fascinating country with friendly and happy people. When Columbus discoveredthis island for the Spanish Crown for more than 500 years, he named it tenderly"Española (Hispaniola)", which means little Spain. He lovedthis island more than all of his other discoveries.
Our teaching method takes fullaccount of modern didactics and is oriented toward the "Foreign LanguageConcept of the Council of Europe", observing all instructions that theReal Academia de la Lengua recommends. We use the Direct Method and at school, like during free time, spoken language is emphasized from the first day on. Atall levels, only Spanish will be spoken.
