    In our small classes each student gets personalized curriculum and attention. The instructors are astute in their assessment of each students' need. We are also culturally sensitive, and do our best to help the student adjust. We promote an informal atmosphere, and go out of our way to make sure the students succeed.

     

    Qualification

    C-E-I-C spanish teachers are a group of professionals graduated with at least a BA degree in the teaching oflanguages. Our teachers have extensive experience in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. In successful seminars, we have already worked with different groups from the USA, Europe and Japan.

    In addition to Spanish classes for students studying abroad and tourists, we also offer German and English classes to Dominicans. The Casa Goethe, the German Department of the Institute, organizes general German and English courses, special German courses for the hotel sector and tourism, and Business English in companies.

    Furthermore, we carry out translations and interpreting services with official recognition.

    Accredited programs
    Through our partners we are accredited for academic credits at several US universities.

    In Germany, our two-week Spanish inten-sive group courses are recognized as Bildungsurlaub (Accredited Language Study Abroad for Professionals).

    Mini-groups (2-7 participants)
    20 lessons per week 45 min each

    Group Course Intensive
    Mini-groups (2-7 participants)
    30 lessons per week 45 min each

    If there is no group on your Spanish level at the time of your course, you will receive private lessons instead for the same price: 15 instead of 20 lessons with a standard course and 22.5 instead of 30 lessons with an intensive course.

    Private Lessons (one-on-one) 
    Your choice of 20 lessons (standard) or 30 lessons (intensive) per week 45 min each.

    Individual packages of private lessons are also available as well as a mix of group course and one-on-one tuition.
     
    We offer the following Special Courses:
     
     
    Academic credits and Bildungsurlaub: 
    Through our partners we are accredited for academic credits at several US universities.
     
    In Germany, our two-week Spanish intensive group courses are recognized as Bildungsurlaub (Accredited Language Study Abroad for Professionals).
     


    4 Course levels: 
    Beginner
    Elementary
    Intermediate
    Advanced

    Placement test and Certificate:
    It is very important for us to identify the right starting level for each student. This is why all students with some prior knowledge of Spanish are asked to take a placement test prior to their course. The test contains questions on various difficulty levels and takes 60 minutes maximum.

    Upon successful completion of the course the students receive a certificate of participation.

    Start dates:
    Spanish courses are offered all year round at both IIC Institutes.

    All private classes as well as group courses for higher language levels start every Monday. Group courses for total beginners begin every second Monday. If Monday is a public holiday, lessons will start on the following Tuesday.

    Course times: 
    Monday till Friday
    in the morning from 9am till 12:30pm
    (incl. a 30-min break)
    in the afternoon starting at 1:30pm

    Group courses usually take place in the morning; if there are many different course levels at a time it might be necessary for group courses to be in the afternoon. Private lessons are usually in the afternoons; other times on availability.

    During free time we promote integration between students and Dominican people, organizing culture activities every nights where a number of trained Dominican friends are invited.

    Teachers

    All our teachers are young university graduates who have been specially trained and who are regularly upgraded. The enthusiasm and the gift of communication Dominican people has naturally is emphatized in our Teachers in the way that the classes never runs boring.

    Levels of ability

    1. Principiante 
    No knowledge of Spanish except perhaps a few words or expressions. No comprehension of the spoken language. 

    2. Elemental 
    Very basic communication skills based on simple structures and a very narrow vocabulary. Strong communicative limitations in everyday situations.

    3. Intermedio A 
    Can participate in simple conversations on some topics using basic grammatical structures and a simple but correct vocabulary. Good comprehension of the language if spoken slowly and clearly.

    4. Intermedio B 
    Better control of structures and practical, common vocabulary. Errors are frequent, but comprehension of the language is good and the speech is quick.

    5 - 6. Avanzado (I and II)
    Good choice of structures used with accuracy and naturally. Vocabulary and comprehension are good, but some errors are repeated.

    7 -8.  Perfeccionamiento  (I and II)
    Very good communication skills, accurately using grammar and syntactic structures. Speech can be directed over a wide range of topics using a proper vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. It is divided in 3 sub-levels (A, B and C) according to the skills of the students. At the end of any and each level a level test will take place. According to results any single student will be suggested to repeat the level or go to next one.
